About the project
My current work documents the Excalibur Pre-Fab Housing Estate in Downham, London. Earmarked for demolition the Pre-fab residence are slowing leaving the estate but what remains are the boarded up dwellings and stories of the lives lived in the Pre-fabs recorded as articles, blog posts and photographs online.
Thinking about this project in relation to objects and memories these dwellings house the memoirs of their residence, the dwellings themselves enable the inhabitants to portray themselves in a certain way and through interviewing current and ex-residents and using photography and film the work produced responds to the everyday experiences and feelings of the inhabitants and enables the viewing of these lives without staring.
Using this ever-growing archive of found documents and websites and my own film, photography and interviews, my artwork responds to everyday experiences of the inhabitants and reflect on the subjects of archive and memory.
